and, incidentally, can receive aid retroactively:

"your school must pay student retroactively completed payment periods within award year if student eligible payment in periods. thus, in case of pell grant, if don't receive valid sar/isir student until spring term, student enrolled , eligible disbursement in previous fall term, student must paid retroactively fall term"
(note: sar/isir document school receives federal processing center after submit fafsa. used determine aid eligible for.)
