Are "floaters" in the eyes normal?

"black dot" in left eye has been there couple of months now. have eye doctor appointment on thursday (in 2 days). have severe nearsightedness, astigmatism, , strabismus (had 6 strabismus surgeries birth 31). wondering if new floater has of these eye conditions.

ever since young child, had floaters looked transparent "strings". now, (in 30s) have "black dot" floater in left eye , when @ computer screen, keep thinking seeing gnat flying in front of screen!

these "normal"?
