My 19 month old was prescribed eye glasses, question about the prescription, please help?

since @ son's age interpretation of reflexes, paid 2 eye exams different locations/different doctors both referred primary physician , both respected in community. haven't noticed vision issues (one eye crossed stopped 4 months ago). first apt: recommend glasses @ +3. second apt: +5 (or +5.25). told if on "+4" won't grow out of needing glasses. don't want on or under correct. there harm? want son needs. vision development (not reaching full vision interpretation if wrong). appreciated. thank you!
