How to create a crease without ironing?

can finger-press: fold , mash edge hard between fingers along crease. make nice soft fold in natural fiber fabrics, successful long synthetics.

have been known take lampshade off lamp in emergency , touch creases running fold on incandescent light bulb. make sure dust bulb first, though!

i trying make small sewing project , need press edges make crease, don't have iron. there way can without one?
