Sparring issues in martial arts?

take muay thai , in training our class has not done sparring in 2 months , havent sparred in while , new sparring got nervous , performed horribly backing , stuff , punched me in face not full force , didnt hurt nose started bleed. can being nervous cause this?? embarrassed little have motivation troubles practice , dont love martial arts death , love going class need thank you
