Issue with electrics in Mk4 Golf TDI?

hi, when driving mk4 golf 1.9 tdi today noticed battery light came on on dashboard. during day , didn't notice wrong car whilst driving. however, when came again in dark, there many issues. firstly, lights keep going bright , dim bright , dim non-stop. @ same time, engine revs go , down slightly, , blowers go , down slightly, , lights on dash same, in exact time each other, , on steady, non-stop beat. don't change reving engine or anything. noticed when rev in no gear, still goes , down wherever hold at, doesnt seem when im in gear , driving, , there has been no loss in power of engine can notice (the turbo etc working fine). lights go , down, headlights, lights, brake lights, dash lights, don't when i'm running electrics on car engine off, lights work fine in situation.
