Get refund with a non refundable greyhound ticket due to surgery?

got non refundable greyhound ticket , day before left got sick , ended getting appendix removed , had miss bus ride due recovery time. able full refund , purchase ticket different destination? since know gonna take 6 8 weeks full refund id rather go see spouse before go home holidays. if knows how handle situation please let me know. thanks!
