Watching 4:3 footage on 16:9 TV. Stretched or not stretched to get best use of resolution?


having debate mate.

says stretching image reduces quality of picture because not meant stretched.

i, however, have said wide-screen crt tv has rectangle pixels, speak (not lcd, know), stretching not reduce resolution, makes better use of available pixels screen has use of. looks stupid so.

argument watching 4:3 footage on non wide-screen tv use tv's available pixels better having black bars @ side case of wide screen tv. reason being both have same number of pixels, wide screen ones more rectangle.

know lot of information, want settle dilemma.
