How to stop a drafty window?

depends draft coming from:

air moving down glass surface due cooling creating draft @ bottom of window:

if glas single pane, quite noticeable. there widow kits have double sided tape , special plastic shrink when heated hair dryer. these kits available hardware stores , building supplies.


draft leaking perimeter of window:

due fact there gap between window frame , rough opening of building not insulated , sealed. if there casing (trim) around window, remove casing , check if there open space between window , rough opening. if yes, 2 x 4s , block window frame keep warping inward. buy can of low expansion insulating foam , follow directions on can fill gaps. leave blocking in 2 or 3 days make sure foam has cured , finished expanding. remove blocking , replace casing.

the windows few year old. there no cracks feel cold air window.
