Do you think its a good idea to teach your child a second language?

i'm first time mum 3 month old little boy. i'm english , live in england. although don't speak language (only knowing bits , bobs of french , german) grew feeling lazy , knowing , wishing go other countries , able speak language. understand majority of world speaks english think idea able speak language. wondering whether should teach child basics of second language. i.e. colours , numbers in language or how encourage conversations. know taught basics in school time taught old , maybe told old absorb fluently. can do? don't want confuse him either :-)
