Should I get a tablet or MP3 player?

ok december 2012 , no longer have smartphone. want able stream music through bluetooth trying figure out if best me go , smartphone, buy mp3 player, or buy tablet. use in office , gym. looking @ 6th gen ipod nano doent have bt grrr. if have spend 250 on mp3 player might nexus 7 tab 32gb im worried being gym….help!
