Home theater system for christmas?

first time looking purchase home theater system. don't want spend money of course (it's gift husband , we're on budget know he'd it) , don't know if should soundbar or system complete small speakers can mount on 4 corners of our living room. i'm not sure how powerful either of options or how sound they'll add. have small house living room , dinig area share same room. these options:
