Why might scientist never be able to say if there is life beyond earth?

need clear if mean "beyond earth" or beyond our solar system. can sophisticated devices curiosity on mars , equipment potentially find evidence of life. potentially devices onto of planets around sol though there immense technical difficulties. potentially might find evidence of life meteorites. controversially signatures of life have been claimed in martian meteorites.

big problem getting stuff planets around other stars.
starting able identify bigger planets around stars though @ stage, real barrier combination of immense distance , restriction of speed of light. if build spacecraft necessary sophistication pilot without command earth nearby star journey take dozens, if not hundreds of years. once there, ship need transmit data across distance. nearest star several light-years way radio waves take number of calendar years (this why not realistically command ship earth, radio communications arrive years after sent.)
unless signals sent many years ago civilization out in space incontrovertibly intelligent source, or intercept stray space probe not earth chances of proving life outside ot solar system vanishingly small.
