What are any advantages to using olive oil instead of other vegetable oils in your cooking?
olive oil touted it's omega-3 fatty acids, thing though fat fat. 1 tablespoon of olive oil, or lard, or vegetable oil, etc...will have same number of calories. being said omega-3 anti-inflammatory , joints, though you'd have take in huge amount of olive oil , calories therapeutic effect. if you're worried omega-3 intake, i'd recommend taking fish oil supplement or eating oily/deep sea fish once week. olive oil, extra-virgin best consumed unheated salad dressing or on bread or because has low smoking point/ burns @ relatively low heat compared other cooking oils. extra-virgin olive oil can taste quite strong on eggs or if you're not used taste. in short, olive oil fine long treat other dietary fat , use sparingly.
far exorbitant prices go, that's marketing , of it's shipping if it's imported italy, france, spain or greece. far subjective qualities peppery olive oils better fruity olive oils or grassy olive oils, depends on country's advertising you're looking at. example, if produce peppery olive oils it's in best interest promote peppery olive oils premium olive oil.
objectively, greener olive oils have more phenol compounds, might have antioxidant , cancer fighting properties. problem olive oil isn't cost-effective way enough phenols achieve therapeutic properties. again, olive oil great, , have mail ordered single vinyard/ harvest, expensive peppery green olive oils italy , fruity golden olive oils france, , experience indulgence. if we're ask me if i'd again, answer no. unless have disposable income wouldn't worry olive oil.
oh , last not least, really, oil fine long use in moderation. if you're asian , peanut oils or corn oils or sesame oils it's fine use, understand oils calories dense. (and sesame oils have low smoking point they're not stir-frys)
if want more neutral oils, corn oil, grapeseed oil fine. wouldn't use vegetable oils though because they're refined (and not in way, more highly chemical way).
especially if using spices cumin , cayenne pepper, mustard seed etc?
why expensive>? worth really?
