neighbor octopus

neighbor octopus
lives under boat.
climbs out in afternoon
practice poems wrote.

neighbor parties night long.
little fish glow
line western showgirls
, dance cotton-eyed joe.

he'll sit there english gent
bubble pipe on knee
, pretend he's teddy roosevelt
safari.

neighbor's name opie,
weighs 100 pounds.
that's big octopus--
he'll wrestle ground.

sundays he'll go sushi bar
, offer condolences.
has out of there
before becomes part of menu.

opie goes carnivals
, makes them guess weight.
, if wrong wins
tasty piece of bait.

when opie starts drunk
he's real pain in a$$
getting him in barrel
can herding cats.

took opie vegas once
had real time
played 8 hands of hold'em
simultaneously

likes little whiskey
put him in mood
makes him crave salty snacks
, crunchy food.

1 time there burglar
sneekin' around on boat
didn't count on opie's
being on deck.

first clue tentacle
a- wrappin' round leg;
second clue looking
@ face of not land;

final clue not in
kansas more
getting bitten beak
until no more.

if plan come aboard
humble tiny ship
make sure you're on guest list
