Why is my engine oil dipstick always showing more than the limit? PONTIAC G6 V6?

drive 2007 pontiac g6, has 3.5l lx9 v6 engine in it...
added amsoil synthetic oil , put recommended level. drive car school twice week , school 2.5kms (1.5miles) away. check dipstick see if in level , see increasing..today checked dipstick , around 1cm more dipstick level.. reason this? , driving cause harm engine? engine life? please tell me needs done or fixed. bought car 2 months ago, don't drive far, city driving. told me have been getting gas oil reason why higher levels on dipstick. others have told me don't engine temperature regular zone, driving in cold reason having higher oil level on dipstick cause of that.. please me! time.
