Why Can't I refuse to wear seat belt in my own car? What about my freedom?
question! serious :)
because if die or become disabled in car crash, government must pay money literally peel body off road. or if become disabled, government forced pay medical bills , disability checks, ton of money. 'government' taxpayer's money. means if neighbor decides going stupid , not put on seatbelt , become disabled, have pay him taken care of.
, side note, realize canada, , questions not children, car crashes leading cause of both disability , death children in united states. booster seat positions adult seat belt may not seem significant use, extremely important. having lap belt on child's stomach dangerous during crash, lap belt sink child's stomach, injuring child's inner organs. many children die , surgery costs high children make hospital.
parents push more strict laws when children become disabled or die. feel terrible these parents. nothing can ever measure loss. example, watch video of 8 year old child in adult seat belt. paralyzed neck down rest of life: http://www.boosttil8.org/
despite this, not sure if should force people wear seatbelts in cars. there nothing black , white in life. in gray.
edit: not states require buy car insurance, sure car insurance companies in making of these laws too. however, car insurance companies not pay injuries other persons rest of life. may pay initial costs, won't pay 20 year old person rest of life on disability check. person 40 years old acquires disability crash has 40-50 years left of living, meaning drag on society.
edit again: school buses 8 times safer vehicle. because bus huge , bus beat sedan, van, or truck in crash. buses not need seatbelts because of large size. seats in school bus made padding, if there in crash, students hit padding in front of them. in addition this, there more children injured outside of bus inside of bus. why law stop school bus stop sign out , red lights flashing.
if take personal responsibility own demise...why can't refuse?
btw theoretical question
