Are Canadian universities more difficult than American?

have bunch of friends @ 'college' in america sports scholarships. they're not @ amazing schools or anything, they're not awful either. in canada university go challenge you. while friends coming christmas saying "i got 90 average" , "you have 3 hour exams! die". these lead me believe (with exception of ivy league schools) american universities (college) easier. correct in making assumption? i'm @ university of western ontario , i'm working *** off 80 average.
