magic cards tell do. follow rules tee. guy said no wrong because card never specified remove counters or discard them once equip removed.

with ring of thune, when re-equip it, counters stay on previous creature? think so.
artifact - equipment :
equipped creature has viligince.
@ beginning of upkeep, put +1/+1 counter on equipped creature if white
