Should CFLS be banned?
use of cfls can double edged sword. while require less energy filament light bulb, contain mercury. amount of mercury contain minimal on average 4 milligrams. long disposed of i.e. not directly trash, better using filament bulb. filament bulb measured on amount of wattage uses in hour, 60 watt bulb uses 60 watts in hour, same amount of light generated 60 watt bulb can use 12 watts in cfls bulb. saving 48 watts per hour per bulb. go around , count number of bulbs in home , math idea of how power saving. note here referred power , not electricity, because watts measure of power , not voltage. question comes down personal responsibility , how dedicated individual @ disposing of cfls via proper means. while 1 bulb may contain 4 milligrams of mercury, multiply total number of cfls there in north america , adds up.
problem mercury gets ito groundwater several different means , contaminates organisms live within body of water i.e. fish. when fish caught humans , eaten transfer mercury humans. while small amounts of mercury excreted fromt eh body in form of waste in larger amounts may remain within body causing more harm internal organs.
bottom line long use cfls , dispose of them properly, can have positive effect vice negative 1 on environment.
cfls contain mixture of gases include mercury-a toxic pure substance can pollute envorment. use less energy incandescent bulbs.
school project can please tell me opinion on them. exsapmle "i think should keep them" or "get ride of them"
