Did I do anything wrong as a sub teacher?

subbed 7th grade class. little loud/talkative , needed reminders quiet down , stay on task, otherwise behaved students. isn't traditional school, it's more open don't want teachers authoritarian -students call teachers , principal first name.

anyway, @ 1 point, girl burst tears. refused tell me why, requested speak teacher next door, granted request. it's small school , boy did blow up. teacher interviewed few students. gather, thought heard jokingly call her, "the hulk". she's skinny, pretty girl, not sure why took such offense or reacted way did.

questioned class , said she's overly emotional , has happened before. , takes offense smallest things, when said jokingly. anyway....she called mom...not sure said....talked principal , few other teachers. understand jokes can taken wrong way - but, yikes, made huge deal , why couldn't have talked me? principal did check in towards end of day , kinda shrugged off when asked him it....so feeling know behavior....

still, feel horrible whole situation. circulated entire time , attentive children.... wasn't sat @ desk day on computer. can't believe made such big huge deal out of room entire day working in library , talking multiple teachers, mom , principal.

i'm not sure ever teacher. hate feeling responsible behavior i'm not in control of. :/
