Would a bouncy ball bounce on custard?

custard non-newtonian fluid exhibit dilatant properties thickening or increase in viscosity increase in shear strain (mixing). sudden impact generate sudding increase in shear strain , corresponding increase in viscosity.

in other words fast ball impact bounce off custard slow toss sink surface of custard. dilatant effect of custard not pronounced other fluids such pure constarch there still plastic deformation @ impact surface. don't expect ball act bouncing off hard surface. see difference in amount of bounce vs speed of impact. , in both cases you'll end messy pie.

well know custard turns solid-ish more force apply, if had bouncy ball , bounced on custard keep bouncing or sink?
