Is the "Blue Screen of Death" harmful to my computer in any way?

got bsod twice today while playing team fortress 2. first time got bsod since bought laptop in 2011. didn't read screen said cause didn't have time before shut down. second time, computer made loud noise started freaking out , turned off laptop before read lol. anyways, harm computer? how can fix it?
