Does silverware really make microwaves explode?

that's "old wive's tale".
silver not explode in microwave oven. convert mw energy large , powerful sparks or 'arcs'. these arcs burn or disfigure silver , melt somewhat. damage mw oven. gold trim (filigree) on dishes , destroy ther gold trim.

i've heard whole life having silverware in microwave while it's cooking can cause explode. true, or old wise tale?
