Will this monitor work with my laptop?

i'm looking buy hp elite monitor (link below) connect laptop external display. problem: monitor has 1 port on it, , it's display port. laptop doesn't have display port, have hdmi output. there's many hdmi display port cables can buy $15, work if use it? says strictly in description of monitor, buy if pc has display port.

work if use hdmi display port cable? cable has hdmi on 1 end, display port on other end. thanks!!
