Why does my neighbours cat sit on my car roof now that I have befriended it?

never used to. it's seen me regularly in car. wondering if animal lovers/behaviour experts out there explain it's thinking- want sit on cars sits on mine because knows won't chase off i'm soft touch. perhaps see me part of it's pride , what's property he's marked territory? think car subordinate (because moves me around) , car should serve him !? i'm not sure if it's male or female!
