world war 1 happened because germany felt need expand across europe. other european powers had colonized other countries, germany didn't have empire. ww1 big power play attempt take on of europe. was strictly politics , power.

main cause of ww2 ww1. after ww1 ended, germany in *terrible* shape. bankrupt because usa, uk , france made them pay financially of damage caused war. result, german people literally starving death because country has no money.

time of desperation, , hitler gained popularity because gave people hope. promised if people rally behind him, not restore germany previous status, seek create german empire last 1000 years. people had lot of faith in him, , charismatic , charming leaders around world trusted him not aggressive. felt bad bankrupting germany, turned blind eye hitler's building of new army, , annexation of neighbouring countries.

holocaust came later. nobody saw coming, , concentration camps largely secretive within germany. people didn't know going on (ie. mass murder).

ww2 officially began when germany , russia attacked poland in 1939. that's when world took notice, , war stop germany's expansion began once again.
