I put a heating pad under my geckos terrarium and still had his lights on low.?

90 degrees when went sleep 101.2 when woke up. made sure there area of cage had no heating pad on , @ 79 degrees , side gecko ended on. didn't seem hurt or burned, want make sure temperature wasn't hot or maximum temperature on hot side of enclosure , if use heating pad itself? thanks.
