Does school actually stop creative kids achieving their dreams?
okay, i'm 17 years old, male, , i've been thinking while now. think people put pressure on kids achieve academically, mean, i'm studying levels @ moment (in a2 year) , i'm finding hard cope, mean hard cope, academic demands , ever increasing workload. of course has meant i'm spending less , less time on hobbies. i'm creative person, not academic, , fear being forced down academic route society i'll end in (to put in cliche) "a dead end job hate", play in band , pretty know writing , playing music thing want career, if end doing else living, chances i'm not gonna enjoy it. i've got point i'm thinking "this ridiculous", there's work set @ school not robbing me of teenage years, robbing me of future want have making money band, , while society, politicians , media saying "going school , uni way achieve success, high paying job = success". i'll admit 2 things, 1) there argument says university can offer useful contacts, aren't there other ways make contacts? (i've been networking age, , it's got point i'm in contact artists warner brothers records) 2) admit, if gave on school , focussed on band, there minimal chance of 'making it', , if didn't make know screwed, rather die chasing dream living 'realistic' , 'safe' life society wants me to. find quite sad, however, many genuinely talented kids taught believe education system, , powers closer home parents, (spending years) working towards going university pre-conceived right option. in many cases mine, massive workload placed on teenagers in run uni means little/no time hobbies or developing creative talents, shoves many people down academic route in single file line, physically shutting out time hobbies, end degree other adults in country, on premise of getting high paid, stable jobs (inevitably fund stable family), can spend more money on products, making institutions more money, , keeping rich richer , poor poorer. no doubt, kids, when they've grown up, 'happy' in regular life, not have been happier being allowed take dream @ least level? and, if live in society people forced (often un-knowingly) settle state of "semi-happiness", point in life @ all?
