Why does the military use two people to fly jets?

not military a/c use two-person crew. example, f/a-18 hornet (the original model) single seat fighter/attack plane. "fighters" or attack planes use two-person crew. if consider f-14 tomcat example, guy in front pilot flies airplane while guy in radar intercept officer (rio) responsible monitoring radar units , calling contacts pilot , planning air-to-air attacks. if on attack mission, directs ground attack. pilot pulls trigger. same true f-4 phantom ii, flew. other aircraft use multiple personnel crew have second person front (co-pilot) handles communication , executes many checklist items free pilot fly airplane. other planes have several crewmen. example, a-6 intruder had variant had 4-man crew. 3 of crewmen electronic warfare experts , ran radar , radio jamming units, etc. on occasion, co-pilot fly airplane while pilot takes break. military flying tiring work. working in pressurized cabin breathing pure oxygen in high-stress environment. hope helps out.

does have sleeping during long flight runs?
