Should I include VAT on an invoice for money to be reimbursed to me?

wondering if can me vat query please:
bought equipment business, because company bought failed on delivery promise had hire equipment company in order complete job. (sales) company said reimburse cost of hire. have asked me pay hire company directly, send them (the sales company) invoice company can reimburse costs.
company vat registered, can't work out how make sure not benefiting or losing out when vat , tax returns. reimbursement, not sale or purchase.
hire £200 plus vat.
should company pay hire company , a) create invoice sales company reimburse £200 plus vat or b) £240 plus vat?
or, should pay hire through personal bank account (i not vat registered) , create recharge / reimbursement invoice £240, , therefore keep separate business , vat return?
