RES turtles fighting?

i've had 2 res turtles 16 years & started notice 1 of them hurting other. like, bites neck & gets violent, while other defenseless. try pull him off it's difficult. should do? feel if rid of mean one, other 1 lonely, after being on decade. i'm afraid might killed if keep them together. help!! :(
