African Lion Safari: Cruelty?

biology class going on field trip next wednesday african lion safari in hamilton, ontario.

i've read bit on zoos , animal captivity. peta says these animals not in natural environments, breeding programs produce cute offspring generate revenue, animals mentally frustrated/ suffering , lot of other horrible things.

question is: african lion safari different other zoo or wildlife park?

should animals there? trying protect endangered species? because animals seem have more space roam in, make right leave them in space not belong?

enlighten me. give me thoughts on this. please me confirm reasons on boycotting place, i'm not sure.
