Leopard gecko question?

had leopard gecko few years ago, , when sold him, got turtle. when setting turtle tank put few pieces of gecko's decor in, hide looked log, decorative purposes. been in there year visibly gathering algae , gross turtle type water grossness. i'm getting leopard gecko again, , wondering how should clean off use again. not big of deal, can use plastic container, nice more use out of it.
