£2000 translates jpy 260,000 standard salary english teacher in japan working english conversation school.

earned english teacher when lived in tokyo few years ago , can confirm enough live comfortably, in tokyo expensive city.

earned jpy 250,000
paid jpy 50,000 in monthly rent small comfortable apartment (fine 1 person)
still leaves jpy 200,000 whatever want every month.

partied, shopped, drank, ate in amazing restaurants. made trip thailand , hong kong. bought new laptop , camera. had ball.

answer yes, £2000 enough live on in japan.

in fact more many japanese locals make.
