How much french do you pick up if you live in Canada?

don't live in west, live in southern ontario. we're 5 hours away quebec car.

i've lived here on 40 years, , know 6 or 7 dirty words in french, , 2 or 3 french phrases. dirty words in them! learned bit of french in school, because had to. i've forgotten of it, because nobody speaks in great numbers around here.

there little pockets of french on canada of course, it's not big presence. there french-speaking communities in northern , eastern ontario, new brunswick, little bit in nova scotia, central manitoba, somewhere in alberta, , 1 or 2 in bc. if weren't quebec, 5% of our population speak french @ home.
