How do you know what graphics card is compatible with your computer?

what's important type of port available on motherboard. lga775 socket 1 of intel's newer sockets, if have available graphics card port, should pci express. can open side of tower , in confirm, should have 3 or 4 ports same length, , 1 considerably longer pcie port. check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pci_express details on looks like.

500w psu should fine basic card, if want bit more beefy, crossfire 6850 hds you'll want upgrade psu well.

can upgrade current computer pci express card , psu now, , because new computer have pci express port can transfer them new pc. or, can basic gpu won't require replacing psu.

i can't seem see requirements fitting motherboard/processor compatibility.
example want buy hd 6850 replace gt 430 on g41m, lga 775 socket motherboard. possible?
processor intel 3ghz dual core. (not i3/5/7)
