In yugioh, can a monster be tributed just to get it off the field?

below level 4 not need tribute unless conditions summon require it.
cannot think of examples atm

level 5 or 6 requires 1 tribute unless otherwise specified.
examples cyber dragon or tricky

level 7 or 8 require 2 tributes unless otherwise specified. examples beast king barbaros or fusilier dragon dual beast mode. level 7 or 8 monsters may have effect lets them tribute 3 monsters instead of 2 additional effects beast king barbaros.

level 9+ require 2 tributes (as far can find on internet; thought 3). cards require 3 tributes though obelisk tormentor.

cannot tribute, send monsters graveyard, return them hand, flip monster face-down, destroy monster, banish monster or such things no supporting effect. likewise, cannot draw or discard @ without paying cost card or card effect. actions in yugioh require effects happen such gaining or losing life points.

if opponent special summons lava golem onto side of field via lava golem's effect, , there no prevention of offering monsters on field tributes, can use lava golem tribute monster or card effect/cost. likewise if there nothing stopping attacking, can attack lava golem.

i summoned 2 tokens opponent's side of field, , monster card zones full. tributed 1 of tokens , summoned level 2 monster didn't require tribute summon. allowed this?
