What is the safest airliner ever?

statistically, boeing 747, depend on how measure it.

airbus a340 has never had accident, might think safest. consider against how many there are, 360 flying since 1993

boeing b777 has been flying, 800 in service, since 1995 , has had one, non-fatal, accident (ba 38) statistically better

1800 747s have been built and, had not been teneriffe accident, would, on passenger miles flown, blow others weeds.

of course teneriffe had nothing quality of aircraft, have been 2 of anything, in terms of assessing how safe "the aircraft" is, nothing comes close "the whale"

edit: did little calculation own amusement.

fatal accident rate boeing 747, excluding teneriffe, 1 fatal accident per 17 million flight hours

@ 565 miles per hour, 1 accident each 9,605,000,000 miles (yes folks, 9.6 billion) miles.

if traded automobile every 100,000 miles, match 747 need go through 96,050 of them, without being involved in fatal accident. think it?

how safe flying is!

(one small point, , trust me, in position know, "qantas has never had crash" 1 of great aviation myths, have! have never lost jet , last fatal crash de havilland drover in 1951, killing 7 passengers. prior qantas short empire flying boat shot down japanese in 1942, loss of 13 lives. standard qantas has great record)!
