Can a 12 inch Alpine type R sub handle a 1200 watt amp?

"if amp capable of more power, better if speakers support more power amp can provide."

why people keep repeating this? there nothing further truth. if skewed way of thinking true people have run volume @ full blast time because running head unit @ have volume blow speakers.

happens people push 200 watt rms amplifier subwoofer that's rated handle 500 watts rms. think they're ok doing (which are, except...) crank bass on hu up, turn on loudness , turn volume signal head unit amp becomes distorted. amplifier starts send clipped signal subwoofer, flat-lining signal , heat of voice coil causes de-laminate , unwind.

that's blows speakers, not under-powering them.

i havn't had chance hook system not sure if going to or not. if wondering if should power 2 alpine subs on 1200watt amp, split 600 watts each.
