use silver hook.

hook has little bit of wiggle, have noticed? that's can collapse bit when you're pressing against inside edge, measurement isn't thrown off thickness of hook. when have hooked on edge, opens out little bit keep measurements accurate.

height, press end of tape down floor. whatever height comes on tape, that's it. no subtractions or adjustments necessary.

im trying measure height never knew confusing use measuring tape.
