Why are dogs NOT raised as a commercial source of meat? (Think about community ecology).?

farmers raise livestock go market @ earliest opportunity once goal weight reached, in chickens it's few months, in beef cattle it's year. dogs don't have enough meat on them make worthwhile, , need meat diet expensive recoup costs raising them based on meat them sell for. diminishing returns.

our culture doesn't view them viable either, , fda has no wholesale slaughter house handle them. problem many 'exotic' meats, sister raised emus, had send them out of state slaughtered @ recognized facility, added cost due transportation of them.
