Does debt cause inflation? Please help!?

i'm having semi-friendly argument politics , opposing person said inflation caused debt , why there inflation in united states right now, because of nation's debt. can't find research backing don't ever remember learning or hearing this. not educated on economics. also, isn't there healthy amount of inflation around 2% , better no inflation? or remembering incorrectly?

can explain why true or explain me why not true? preferably in lay man's terms if that's not possible have google ready things don't understand! :)

please answer , me out!!
