Does anybody taste or test the food and beverage for possible poison before its consumption by royals?

food tasters haven't existed in west, far know, in many centuries. basically, people trust food buyers , chefs , kitchen workers.

in middle eastern monarchies, suppose it's possible tasters still exist, though can't imagine take such job, if there enough reason fear poison monarch felt taster necessary. it's kind of thing used force slaves do, not free men pick own employment. i've never heard of modern food tasters.

what steps taken ensure food , beverage not tainted?
