Do you need to polyurthane wood after staining?
yes, poly wood sealer, stain isn't, don't want wood drying out , absorbing moisture (shrinking , swelling) that'll cause crack. found if wear surgical gloves , use terrycloth clean rag poly go on kinda thin won't have air bubbles, run steel wool on , apply coat of poly. been doing woodwork while.
yes there others...varnish, lacquer, linseed oil...but if want last , stay looking don't leave bare
