believe referring lamarckian evolution.
animals not "decide" evolve. mutations random.

let's you're giraffe in times when giraffes used have shorter necks. chance, recombination of parents' dna , random mutations in genetic code gives longer neck (just humans taller other, it's not decision genetic circumstance).
longer neck, able reach green leaves in places other giraffes cannot, gives advantage. means you're less starve, more healthy , therefore more reproduce , give of descendants modified gene gave long neck start with.

imagine through geological time.

how can true. animals decide "evolve" giraffes had small necks , decided evolve long necks eat high things? thats silly because giraffes stupid , wouldnt think of if think of want wings not necks
