In aviation electrician mos, is it better to be in I level or O level?
focused on either marine corps or navy aviation since af , army not have intermediate , organizational maintenance structure aircraft.
following applies both navy , marine corps:
oma level: electricians troubleshoot , repair electrical problems in aircraft @ squadron level. involved in actual turnaround of combat aircraft , part of squadron's manning level.
ima level: these guys in marine aviation logistics squadron, called mals (used called h&ms old timers). electricians @ level have less since not directly repair aircraft. may troubleshoot , repair electrical aircraft components not repaired on aircraft removed , replaced modules or components oma level. these components marked non-ready issue (nrfi) , sent ima determine if ima can repair them. if cannot, "bcm'd" (beyond capability of maintenance - in case ima) , sent aviation repair depot repair (mostly civilians) or factory.
1 better? state oma since oma gets hands-on experience of directly working on aircraft. ima marines components oma not repair , components - no hands-on aircraft.
lieutenant colonel, u s marine corps-retired (marine aviator , marine aircraft maintenance officers @ oma level.)
what best aircraft work on ?
