I'm suddenly curious about surfing... is it easy to learn?

not difficult, takes time , patience. not verybody can it. before think surfing, there things should understand. surfing ocean sport, should practiced persons competent ocean swimmers. swimming in pool neat, it's not ocean swimming, undertows, rip tides , big waves. have seen lots of great pool swimmers rescued. so, first tip on how surf @ home in ocean.there way many dangerous people in water now. danger , other surfers, don't join ranks. don't know you. maybe have ocean skills.

lessons best way start. lessons can come professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. professional lessons not expensive, , wise investment.you have learn surf etiquette (so experienced surfers in line don't want drown you), how paddle , take off on wave, , how ride wave. last thing experienced surfers want inexperienced people grab board, rush surf , in our way. lessons shorten learning curve significantly. , keep ignorant, un-prepared kooks out of water , out of way of more experienced surfers. .

beginners should take advantage of renting boards , wetsuits while taking lessons. if turns out don't surfing, haven't wasted whole lot of money on gear not going use. when ready buy, don't waste time on line, go local surf shop discuss size (weight import, height isn't), skill level , local wave conditions. after 46 years of surfing, still surfboard buying advice local shops in places surf. surf shop best place find information on instructors.
