Does Tor Project work?

depends on definition of works.

tor exceedingly slow , pretty useless text based stuff. web pages take forever , streaming video forget it.

other problem privacy , security point structure. end points encrypted traffic exits , goes onto internet it's destination run volunteers around world. tor people have no idea these people , can set 1 up. it's quite lot of these exit points run hackers , identity thieves government agencies can see traffic exits network.

while tor sounds great in it's concept flawed in it's execution. appearance of security no different sticking head in sand , thinking safe..

im wondering if torproject works? supposed give anonymous web surfing kinda proxy don't quite understand im hoping 1 of knows more , can let me in on advice on how use this? or maybe proxy website can give me true privacy
