What are the best low cost areas to live in los Angeles?

in la? la huge! want live close work, , so, you're going want car our public transportation not in many areas, , la spread out it's time consuming, sure include car in budget. make sure you're getting paid enough cover expenses, there isn't government financial here available aren't getting it, , not other private help. (like housing poorest , disabled in many la co cities have closed wait lists because years long, long 10 years long.)

if working in san gabriel valley downtown , hollywood, glendale or pasadena may options, may able find low end studio $800 $1000. if you're working on westside, rents more expensive, palms , culver city options, may able find low end studio $900 $1200. may not find units @ rents acceptable, depends on taste. landlords want see rental, credit , local job history, income of 3 4 times rent. prefer rent 1 adult per bedroom, couple in 1 bedroom see each tenant can individually afford rent (for when break up), , maximum of 1 adult in studio/single.

because area expensive, west hollywood , hollywood (both high crime), venice, santa monica, etc, doesn't mean safe, or neighborhoods safe.

can idea of crime in la here: http://projects.latimes.com/mapping-la/n...

have lots , lots of rental scams here, extremely bold, manager (who not manager) taking many deposits rental (then disappearing $$$), while real owner on vacation! if seems good..... is. careful of subletting if landlord isn't directly involved, it's illegal rental or scam. google: los angeles rental scams, , rental scams.

luck!

i've been offered job in la. i've heard areas quite bad in la. in advance
